To Vote or not to Vote

Thursday, August 30, 2012

While on Facebook tonight I witnessed a complete and utter travesty.

Someone posted a status regarding the 2012 Election. She said that the candidates were puppets and that the people needed to take back the government.

Ok.
The most disturbing were the responses that followed.

"That is why I am not voting."
"I won't even vote."

HOW IS THIS HAPPENING. My peers. The people that I am relying on to help me better this country are giving up their right to participate in democracy.

In my mind, if you are not even going to vote for the President of this country you have exactly ZERO room to complain about anything!

Making an active choice to disengaged because you feel that the system is flawed is the biggest cop out I have ever heard. Maybe you think both candidates are ridiculous... but one of them has to be less ridiculous right?

We have the opportunity to actively engage in how our future is going to play out so why not take it?

2012 Election Research Has Begun

Friday, August 17, 2012

Some links for you:

Here is the official Obama-Biden Website.

Things I learned:
The Steal worker ad that Obama produced is False. The woman was diagnosed with cancer 5 years later and had insurance.
Medicade is a HUGE issue. This is something that is being added to the list.
Barack Obama is 50, Mitt Romney is 64.
Ad Spending to Date varies quite a bit.
                                          OBAMA                                                       ROMNEY

At this point... I am feeling really frustrated. So much misleading and bad information out there. No wonder millions of people don't vote.

Anyone have some good resources besides CNN?

Politics: Obama vs. Romney

Monday, August 13, 2012

I told myself that I would leave this off the blog, but I was having a conversation yesterday that I cannot seem to push from my mind. Politics are ridiculous. Being in advertising I cannot believe the crap that gets put on air for the American people to see. When did running for President become about slandering the other person instead of about the issues?

There are many things I don't understand about the issues, but I have decided that I want to be as informed as possible for the 2012 Presidential Election. I want to vote based on an informed decision. I don't want to be an idle bystander. In order to accomplish this I will be doing my own research and sharing what I find here. Hopefully it will be helpful and encourage you to get out and vote.

Things need to be simplified. I am not saying that these issues are simple. I just want to make information a little bit easier to digest.

I will not be sharing my political leanings at any point. I will only be disclosing, to the best of my ability, the unbiased facts that I find online as I research different political issues. A couple of issues I intend to dive into are:

Health Care
Women's rights
Economic Stimulus
Immigration

If you have any thoughts or issues you are concerned about please let me know. This is important. I feel really lucky to live in America and can't wait to make my contribution.
