OUTFIT 1 // Skirt: F21 // Shirt: F21 // Tights: F21 // Shoes: Target //
OUTFIT 2 // Skirt: F21 // Flannel: AE // Scarf: Nordstrom // Boots: Macy*s //
OUTFIT 3 // Skirt: F21 // Shirt: F21 // Sweater: Nordstrom Rack //

This is my lovely sister Caity modeling three different ways to wear a polka dot skirt. I think the first roadblock when styling patterns is the urge to be so matchy matchy. Initially when seeing this skirt I thought, "Try a white button down!" -- I had to hold myself back. I have learned that you just have to treat the pattern like it's neutral.  Throw caution to the wind! Look at OUTFIT 2// polka dots and plaid! I am already thinking of the fun spring florals we can put with this skirt in a couple months.

Hope this inspires some of you to mix and match some of your patterned pieces.

p.s. do you have any tips for mixing patterns? please share in the comments below!

  1. Can I please have that green shirt with the gold collar...?

  2. What I fun skirt! You did a great job of styling it. I'd wear any of those outfit but the last one is my favorite - the gold color shirt is amazing!

  3. love that mint top with gold collar makes for a really nice outfit. so cute that you've featured your sister! love the cool braid she has in too. xx. gigi. food and beauty blogger @

  6. Love all these, but the last look is probably my favorite. The color combination is so pretty! Sometimes I'm hesitant to mix patterns because it can feel too busy, but these all look great!

  7. I'm so glad this post is all about polka dots!
They are my favorite, and with spring coming up I'll be putting these outfit ideas to good use!
Love your blog, by the way. Following!
