DIY Glitter Toes

Friday, June 8, 2012

Something we love doing is our own glitter toes. It lasts for about two+ weeks and is super sparkly. You can see my completed toes here.

Supplies: clear polish, color polish if you want, glitter (We use the multipack that can be found at Michaels for $4. It seriously lasts forever.), scissors to open the glitter, tape to close the glitter back up, and a sheet of paper to catch the excess glitter.

1. Pick your color polish if you want to have color under the glitter. This helps when the glitter starts wearing off.
2. Assemble the needed supplies.
3. Paint all toes on one foot with the clear polish (Or the color polish if you choose. If you choose color, match it with the same shade of glitter. All the remaining steps are the same, except do the light second coat with clear polish.).
4. Cut open your glitter and pour and pour plenty on each toe until it's spilling onto the paper underneath.
5. Wait a couple of minutes.
6. Shake off the excess glitter.
7. Pour the glitter back into the little package.
8. Repeat steps 4-7 on the other foot. Do two coats of glitter on each foot, but do the second much less heavy -- it's the protective coat. Don't worry if you've got some glitter stuck around your nails, it should all come off by the next day.
9. Voila! You have glitter toes. We don't put a clear coat over the top because it dulls the glitter color. The final product will feel a little rough, but it will look sparkly and fab!

Hope you like them!

  1. Fun! Does this kind of glitter come off more easily than glittery nail polish? Because I hate taking that stuff off!

    1. It takes some time to get it off, but the best way is to just let a cotton ball with remover sit on each toe for 30 seconds or so. That makes it easier.
