3 6 5 Days of Journaling | March

Saturday, April 12, 2014

Journaling Journaling makes me happy. I feel like March is always hard because there are no holidays off of work and the weather is generally terrible. One of the brightest spots was when my dear little michael came to visit me. He's great and I can't wait for him to move back to Chicago so we can LIVE IT UP this summer. Today was the first warm day, we are talking 68 people, and the whole city just came alive. It was like Chicago whispered, "Hey I'm sorry for the long winter, lets make this summer a good one eh?" I am not sure if I am ready to forgive, but I am definitely ready to forget. Tomorrow I am going to ride my bike. Annnnnnnd tangent.

March journaling was a little more black and white than usual. Funny how even the color palette can reflect your emotions in some round about way. Hope you like it!

Much love march and we're out.

3 6 5 days of journaling | february

Thursday, March 13, 2014

I have only missed 4 days of journaling this entire year kids. What a feeling. This is the longest I have ever held on to a new years resolution. Every night as I snuggle into bed, I prop a pillow under my chin and scribble anything and everything I want. After years of journaling I have found that you have to release any sort of preconceived notions as to what a journal should be or who it should reflect. This journal is not for my posterity, it doesn't have to show me in a superior light, it is simply mine. For me a me alone. How very few of those things we allow ourselves to have.

Sometimes I write about what was done that day, but often I find myself capturing in incredibly small moments in great detail. The moments where I feel somehow connected to this great big world and all the implications that go along with it. Writing has become more than a chore. It's a way to create. It's a way to get to know myself through those ink smeared words spilling on the page.

journaling every single day in january

Monday, February 10, 2014

I had a crazy new years resolution this year to journal every single day. The goal bubbled from the fact that instead of writing before bed, I found myself aimlessly scrolling through all forms of social media. So a new nightly routine was born.

Every night I crawl into bed, put two pillows on my lap as a "desk", and scribble away. Sometimes my thoughts are concise (often this correlates to when I am tired from the day), but other times I am surprised by how much I do actually have to say. By no means are all these pages spectacular. Often journaling for the day simply consists of one sentence, a quote from a book that I like, or a list.

In January I made it 30/31 days. Which is pretty bangin' if I do say so myself.

Here are a few snapshots of my pages from January and I think I'll make this a monthly post if you would like. This new years resolution is also going to make one of my 24 before 25 goals insanely easy. Finish one large moleskin? Pshhh... how about three?

p.s. 5 journaling tips and a short list about being short.
